Exploring belonging
SAIC Course & Student Exhibition at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale
"What does it mean to be a citizen today? What is the role of spatial and aesthetic practices in engaging, understanding, and intervening in contemporary conditions of belonging? Designer Artist Citizen Site: Exploring Belonging [was] an independent exhibition that responded to, expanded, and challenged the U.S. Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, “Dimensions of Citizenship,” commissioned by SAIC and University of Chicago."

The exhibition of student work, running for about three weeks in Ca’Foscari, Venice, raised questions of censorship, boundaries, curatorship, play, borders, and memory, among other topics. As a teaching assistant and exhibition coordinator for this international exploration of the relationship of citizenship, belonging, and architecture I completed tasks such as critiquing student work, coordinating the purchasing and shipping or exhibition supplies, and organizing group presentations.
